Paul Sheedy

Paul was raised on a dairy farm just outside of Toowoomba. He graduated from the University of Queensland in 1985 and worked in the Adelaide Hills, Warwick and London before joining Allan as a partner at Toowoomba Veterinary Hospital in 1992. He is married to Helen and has two daughters Georgia and Isabella. Paul started his professional life as a large animal vet but now loves the challenges presented by small animal medicine and surgery. Outside of work, Paul is a keen photographer, occasional golfer and cricket tragic. Paul likes to combine his loves of travel and continuing education and in recent years has attended conferences in most Australian states as well as a few in New Zealand. Most recently he has attended Conferences at Lake Wanaka focusing on small animal medicine, neurology and ophthalmology. Paul has two cats, an ex-clinic cat called Murphy, and a new kitten from the RSPCA called Ziggy. He also has his Golden Retriever, Lola, who has been the star of the practice’s Yellow Pages advertising for the past few years (along with Paul’s daughters!).

Louis Gilshenan

Louis is a local lad who has been with Toowoomba Veterinary Hospital since early 2005 and brought into the practice as a partner in 2008. After completing his studies, Louis cut his teeth in Bundaberg working for three years in a mixed practice. He then spent two years in England working at various locations. When Louis returned to Australia he worked in Emerald, Central Queensland before returning home to Toowoomba. Louis is interested in all aspects of small animal medicine and cattle surgery. He is passionate about promoting the benefits of Pet Insurance to all his clients. His veterinary career blossomed following the realisation that his career as a musician was not to be, however he sometimes can be heard singing during surgery. His favourite pastimes are playing golf, cricket and fishing. Louis is married to Julie and has three children; 8 year old William, 5 year old Harriet and Rafferty who is 2. 

Rebecca Welsh

Rebecca grew up in Toowoomba and she graduated from The University of Queensland in 2011. After two years working in a rural mixed practice in Northern NSW she ventured overseas to the UK. She spent two years doing locum work and travelling around Europe. Rebecca has two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels named Leela and Buffy. She enjoys competing with her horse Izzie at Eventing carnivals.

Maddy Clelland

Maddy graduated from James Cook University in Townsville. Maddie spent the first half of her life in the hot and humid climate of the Northern Territory followed by more locally in Brisbane. She enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Science and the everyday challenges that are encountered. In her spare time, Maddy enjoys swimming, tennis, reading and spending time with friends.

Alice Murray

Alice has been working with us for the past six years as a Veterinary Nurse. This year she has graduated to become a Vet from the University of Queensland Gatton. Born and raised in Lismore, Alice always knew she wanted to work with animals and is the sixth generation on her family beef cattle property in Lismore. Alice's interests outside of work include showing cattle, horse riding and tennis. Alice's fur family consists of her cattle and most recently she has a little kitten called Poppy.

Veterinary Nurses

Tracey Higgins

After spending some time in Practice Management Tracey has returned to her real passion of Veterinary Nursing and has taken on the role of Head Nurse here at Toowoomba Veterinary Hospital. Tracey began her Vet Nursing career at Oakey Veterinary Hospital in 1999 and has continued her studies over the last decade including most recently a course in Reproductive emergencies. Tracey married her husband Grant in 2007 and lives on a property just outside of Oakey. They grow fodder crops for their own stock including a small area of irrigated lucerne. Tracey is more of a dog person with a boxer called Bethanee and a dachshund called Diefenbacher.

Alison Pistorius

Alison joined the TVH family in June 2012 and has quickly become a valued member of our Veterinary Nursing team; Alison was born and raised in Zimbabwe where she owned a variety of pets from horses to monkeys on the family farm. Alison's passion for working with animals strengthened when she moved to New Zealand where she completed her Veterinary Nursing training. Alison and her family relocated to Australia in 2009 and have made Toowoomba home. Alison and her husband Roy have 4 children, Wade, Lance, Travis and Amy. They have three fur babies, Bear, a 5 year old Siberian Husky, and a cat; 4 year old Monty. Alison's family have recently given her a beautiful French Bulldog and she's called Frankie.

Tiffany Collins

Tiffany is a Veterinary Nurse and has more than 10 years vet nursing experience. She has been with Toowoomba Veterinary Hospital since 2005. It is likely that Tiff’s smiling face will greet you and your pet at reception on your arrival. Tiff’s interests include spending time with her son Aiden, canine behavior and nutrition. Tiff is also mum to three cats, a Burmese cat called Choc Choc, a Persian cross cat called Fuzzbucket and a domestic short hair called Boots. She also has two Great Danes, Kilah and Kuda.

Chantal Jerrard

Chantal returned to Toowoomba Veterinary Hospital after a short absence late in 2014. She is a highly trained Veterinary Nurse. She will be working on reception at TVH as well in our hospital and surgery areas. Chantal tells us that she lives in a crazy home with her fishing mad husband Paul and her two sons; George the football fanatic and Rylie the cat man! Chantal has a new cattle dog named Joe, two cats Dooley & Henry and her much loved birds Sao and Bickie. She is delighted to be back working with the staff of TVH and is enjoying meeting all of our clientele - both the human and the furry kind !!!

Gemma Hunt

Gemma graduated with an Applied Science degree, majoring in Veterinary Technology in 2012 and soon began working in a rural mixed animal practice in Dalby. She grew up in rural Queensland and finds Toowoomba the perfect balance of city/country living. She enjoys all aspects of work within a veterinary clinic as well as interacting with a wide variety of animal species including cats, dogs, horses, cattle and wildlife. In her spare time Gemma enjoys riding her horses Doc and competing in the equestrian sport of eventing. She is also kept busy looking after her rescue cat Mannie as well as her adorable (and neurotic) little dog Tess.
